The 4th Armored Division was activated during World War II on 15 April 1941
The division then landed in Normandy, on Utah Beach just after the invasion 1944.
It participated in the Battle of the Bulge and for its relief of Bastogne, the 37th was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.
The drive into Germany continued and 37th participated in the Occupation of Germany until relieved in 1946
and later inactivated 1947.
